Where did your Derby Name come from?
Well, I’m a fan of unicorns so I wanted to incorporate that but with a little more fury!
How long have you been skating for?
I put a pair of skates on my feet for the first time in my life in October 2016 but unfortunately didn’t keep it up. I joined DCRA in September 2017 and haven’t looked back.
What position do you play?
Prodominantly I’m a jammer but I will block when needed.
How did you find out about Roller Derby?
My other half (Force-A-Nature) got me into it.
What is your favourite thing about Roller Derby?
I don’t think I can pick just one thing! I love that I get to exercise without it actually feeling like I’m exercising, I love learning new skills and improving each time I try it, I love how inclusive the sport is and how everyone is always super helpful (even when you’re bashing each other) but mostly I love the people and the new friends I’ve made.
Which team or skater do you most look up to?
Oh toughie… I love to watch Flying Kiwi skate – she makes everything look easy and effortless and she’s really fast!
What’s the best game you have ever watched?
Watching Tyne & Fear play Team Scotland was pretty awesome.
What would you say to anyone who is considering signing up for fresh meat?
Do it. It doesn’t matter if you can’t skate or you have no balance, that’s what the coaches are there for. They will teach you everything you need to know to get you scrimming in no time! It’ll be one of the best decisions you make.
